Hi, its been awhile, as in REALLY awhile since I wrote on this blog. I think its dead. Though it wasn't even alive in the first place. I went for my first CJ guiding this month, also my last T_T. okay, so anyway, that day was quite a normal day at Chek Jawa. I celebrated a new decade, 2010, with my first walk ever at Changi! Changi, being a reclaimed shore, I didn't really expect much seashore life , other than sand, waves and picnics. Of course, there was the less visited side of Changi, so that's where I started off. Like I said, Changi, being more of a tourist area than a seashore, I didn't expect much seashore life, just... ... During my night walk on 19 Dec, I made a very special find while on my way to the coral rubble area... This rather blurry shot of a strange orangish crab, which I presumed as the moult of a mole crab (Albunea groeningi), after reading 'Private Lives'. I went for a sleepover recently at Ubin. Firstly, we went for a bird ID workshop organised by LK (thanks for the workshop!) At the 16 Dec guided walk, There were several surprises. Here are two comical sea animals... Apparently, this garlic bread sea cucumber (Holothuria scaba) got impatient waiting for us to release it, and decided to make a move on its own! These sea cucumbers can grow really big, and thus, they are a popular restaurant delicacy. However, they are really poisonous, and have to be treated first.

Today, before setting off to Chek Jawa, we had a little surprise in store for us. We saw an oriental pied hornbill (Anthracoceros albirostris) perched on a papaya tree right beside the volunteer hub! Everyone was scrambling for their cameras as the majestic bird seemed to deliberately pose for shots. Eventually, the hornbill flew away. The way it flies is more like gliding, really. At Chek

I forgot to mention, I'm a guide at Chek Jawa, under National Parks. Today, 1 group misunderstood our online booking systems for guides, so instead of booking a guided tour for 1 group of 4, which costs $60, this person accidentally booked 4 guided tours for 4 people, which costs a total of $240! I wonder if this person ever though if 1 guided tour for $240 is a tad too expensive! Anyway, most of
